Respect

We uphold and fight for the rights and dignity of all women. Guided by feminist values, we listen with care, create spaces where voices are heard, and honour the experiences of those facing inequality and discrimination at work.

Courage

We act with courage to challenge structures of power, fight for gender equity, and speak out against injustice, exploitation and discrimination.

Integrity

We are honest, transparent and accountable.

Solidarity

We are part of a feminist movement that stands with all working women, especially those facing systemic injustice. We believe in collectivist action and support trade unions.

Creativity

We draw from the strength of radical traditions while embracing bold ideas, fresh energy, and new gender equality strategies to transform workplaces and society.

When we say women, we are inclusive of all women — including trans women, as well as non-binary and gender non-conforming people who face gendered disadvantage. We recognise that gender inequality is shaped by intersecting systems of power, and we take an intersectional approach to all of our work.

History

From Feminist Roots to Workplace Advocacy

Working Women’s Centres began in the 1970s through the efforts of feminist unionists and activists, driving the fight for equal pay, fair treatment, and lasting workplace reforms for women in Australia.
